Birds and Breakfast:

After an early morning pick up at 6 am from the hotel. We will take a 45 minutes drive to the village Kuloro and Tunjina village. Where we will join the dawn choros for an exotic bird songs. Later join the dug out canoe round Sita Joyeh island for a peaceful and relaxing bird watching. That will follow by a delicious african and an english breakfast. The group will return to mainland for more exciting birdwalk around vegetable garden and remains of small beautiful forest interesting birds expected are stone partridge, Yellow crowned gonolek, Abyssinian roller, Grey kestrel, Crested eagle, Swallow tailed bee eater just to name a few. After an exciting birdwatching by mid day the group will return to the coach and drive back to the hotel. (The price of this activitie will be updated.)

 

Afra (BBQ) cultural night:

Afra cultural night is a special program for Sita Joyeh where you have a very unique night with barbecue, and every Afra cultural night there will be a program arranged for entertainment. It could be drummers and dancers, it could be soft traditional music with kora or balafon or another nice surprise for you to enjoy a lot. We have our Afra cultural night every Sunday. Boat trip to Baba dala:

You are taking a slow boat trip to Baba Dala, which is a place where the River Gambia meet the open sea. By the way going you will probable see lots of beautiful birds, mangrove forrest and have a peaceful atmosphere. The trip will take about 1 hour. Price: 10 Euro

You are taking a slow boat trip to Kubne, that is placed at a river bank. By the way going you will probable see lots of beautiful birds, mangrove forrest and have a peaceful atmosphere. The trip will take about 90 minits. Price: 20 Euro

Our local tour guides: 

This is Kaddy Kambi and Adama Jatta. Our local tour guides. Both of them are from the village of Kuloro and have been raised in the village, so anything going on in the village is well known for them. They will take you to the school where they once was students. They will show you the local market, to the village vegetables fields. Kaddy will take you to her home where you will meet the village´s Alkalo. Alkalo is the person who represent the village´s interests coming to politicians and others. A Alkalo is also the one who will help to sort out problems or disputes between people in the village. In Tungina the Alkalo is a woman, which is not so common. If you do a village-trip you will get the chance to talk to the Alkalo and she will explain all the different responsibility she have. If it is season for oyster, Adama will take you to the women who are working with the oysters, where Adamas anti is a part of the working team.

Vegetable Garden visits is a visit to the womens vegetable garden where you can participate with the women at the garden to water the vegetables with water from the well and enjoy the day with local women. Price: 10 Euro

School visit:

We are going to visit a school in the village of Kuloro and have the chance to see the school work in Gambia and hopefully have the opportunity to have a little talk with the teacher as well. Kuloro School have it´s own garden where the children grow vegetables. The vegetables are sold and the money are used to develop the school. Every year when time comes to harvest, the school have a little party for the student who have done a good work. It is students at the school at the age of 10-12 years who are doing the garden work. Water have to be brought from a far distance and it´s a hard work. The school is also very proud of the library. It can seem as a small library with few books, but this school are very proud of having the biggest library in the area. Kaddy Kambi and Adama Jatta will take you on a tour at the school where they were once students.  Price: 10 Euro

 

Local market visit:

We will take you to the local market in the village of Kuloro. You will see the work of the women selling at the market and also have chance to buy what you might like to buy. Take the opportunity to meet the hard working women at the local market. Despite of the hard work, there are also a strong women community and many laughter. The women are looking forward to meet guests from different country’s and tell you about their daily life. Price: 10 Euro

Full day visiting vegetable garden, school, Kuloro local market and Brikama:

Vegetable Garden visits is a visit to the womens vegetable garden where you can participate with the women at the garden to water the vegetables with water from the well and enjoy the day with local women. After that we are going to visit a school in the village of Kuloro and have the chance to see the school work in Gambia and hopefully have the opportunity to have a little talk with the teacher as well. We will take you to the local market in the village of Kuloro. You will see the work of the women selling at the market and also have chance to buy what you might like to buy. We will end the day with going to Brikama, the second biggest town in Gambia and well known for its wood carvings and Brikama is also a music center. Price: 40 Euro.

 

Boat trip to Banjul (minimum 10 people):

You will take a boat trip to the capital of Gambia, Banjul. In Banjul we will visit Albet Market and see the lively capital. Price: 55 Euro

 

All the excursion prices is per person, one child under 10 years will come for free with one paying adult. Children from 11-15 years, half price.
